Although Qin Momo, his girlfriend from a wealthy family, keeps suggesting that he take the job offer from her father’s company, Wu Xiaoyuan intends to prove himself and fulfill his potential in his own way. A chance leads him to Tibet, where he offers volunteer services at Wa Zuo Primary School, teaching the national anthem to kids.
During his austere and difficult stint in Tibet, a place too isolated to receive cell-phone signal, Wu Xiaoyuan is completely cut off from the world he comes from. He misses his girlfriend, troubled by the possibility that the star-up he co-founded with his friends might fail during his absence. Since the new business is the only chance he has to prove himself, Wu Xiaoyuan goes back to Tai’an, only to find that a treacherous friend has made his whole start-up dream a bitter joke. In his rage over the betrayal, Wu Xiaoyuan mistakes Qin Momo’s words of comfort for something really hurts.
As one thing leads to another, he finds himself back at the Wa Zuo Primary School again, broken and frustrated. Thankfully, the kindness of the principal, the innocents of the kids and their genuine consideration help him heal. As his love for the land and its people continues to grow, Wu Xiaoyuan decides to settle down there, giving all that he can give, while being enriched, appreciated and needed. Right here, he fulfills his life purpose.
Wu Xiaoyuan’s commitment has touched the heart of many, including his girlfriend, who abandoned her disapproving attitude and started to be supportive. With concerns for places like Tibet growing, aids and helps come in across the country through all all channels, in all forms as if cheered up by the voice of kids singing national anthem: Arise, ye who refuse to be slaves! With our flesh and blood, let us build a new Great Wall...
