On 6th June, the Man in the Mirror, a grand stage play jointly produced by the famous director Wang Yansong and the top-notch scriptwriter Meng Bing, presented by Sam Film Limited Company, has made its debut at the PLA Opera House. The audience, which included famous performing artist such as Huang Zhizhong, Ke Lan, Jia Yiping and Wang Xun, all claimed that the play was a great piece of work rarely seen on stage in recent years, a grand and realistic work that renders the true nature of theatrical art. The premiere has been acclaimed by experts within theatrical sector, who enthusiastically commented that it was such a luck that both the audience and the stage could witness an unpretentious and truth-telling play.

The play is unique not only in its use of multimedia, but also in its wise lines enjoyed by so many. For instance, the line that reads “a drop of water will never admit that he is the cause of a disastrous flood” briefly yet shrewdly pointed out the status quo of our society.Sam Film Limited Company, the begetter of the play commented that “we hope the play will sound the alarm for its audience. The highlight of the play lies in the inner conflict of the characters, but the excellent performing skills are what touched the heart of many.” Director Wang Yansong also added his remarks that “you can understand the play only when you are here, right in the opera house. You will come to feel something you never felt before about theatrical performance. There is a strong force that penetrates you, piercing layers and layers of your body, until it touched your heart.”
The two-hour long play shocked everyone with its artistic charms. Many of the audience still lingered in the world of play, thinking about the twists and turns in the story. Some said that “at first we thought it was just a politically right play with a grave theme but never expected that it should grab my heart, with such a real, shocking and powerful force.” At the time of curtain call, many in the audience stood up and applauded the sincere and skillful performance, all reluctant to leave.
From June 6 to 19, the play has been performed 13 days in a row at the PLA Opera House.
